In 1841 Pen y Banc was a 90 acre farm to the south of what is today the village of Fochrhew. Its history is by no means clear as it is difficult to sort out the Senghennydd Manor Records prior to 1750.

Cil Haul Farm

Cil Haul in 1841 census had 82 acres (3 arable) owned by Crawshay Bailey. The farm was occupied by Thomas Llewellyn.

There is no mention of the farm in both the 1851 or 1861 censuses but it was listed in the Rates Evaluation of 1885 as having 68 acres.
