Cardiff Eisteddfod, where they came third out of nine parties. The winners, Wattstown, received 86 marks; Williamstown 85; Fochriw 84.

Between competitions various concerts were held locally in the Imperial Cinema at Rhymney and Carmel Chapel.

The choir competed at both the Merthyr and Hirwaun eisteddfodau on the same Whit Tuesday in June 1927 but there are no reports as to its success.

Another success at the Markham Eisteddfod was reported in the 27 August 1927 edition of the Merthyr Express. However, they were not successful at the Abertysswg and Oakdale eisteddfodau in October 1927

Male Voice Success   Congratulations to the Fochriw Male Voice Party, under the able conductorship of Mr. Thomas Walters, who were successful in winning the first prize at the Markham Eisteddfod on Saturday last. The test piece was "Crossing the Plain." The choir intend giving a first class complementary concert in the near future as a token of respect to their conductor and accompanist. The officers of the party are: Mr. Thomas Evans, vice-chairman; Mr. W. J. Payne, chairman; Mr. J. Gregory, secretary; Mr. John Phillips, treasurer; Mr. Thomas Walters, conductor; Mr. James Thomas, accompanist. They are assisted by an energetic committee.

A presentation to the retiring conductor and accompanist was reported in the 26 November 1927 edition of the Merthyr Express.

Presentation to Mr. W. J. Angell and Mr. Wyndham Lawrence   Carmel Chapel was well filled on Tuesday evening, the occasion being a concert and presentation to Mr. W. J. Angell, late conductor of the Fochriw Male Voice Party, and Mr. Wyndham Lawrence, late accompanist, to mark their faithful services. The chairman was Mr. W. J. Payne. The presentations took the form of a magnificent Berkeley arm chair to Mr. W. J. Angell, and a handsome writing bureau to Mr. Wyndham Lawrence. After the presentations and replies, a fine programme of music was contributed by the following: the Male Voice Party; the Juvenile section of the Ladies' Choir; Mr. Griffith Morris, Mr. W. A. Davies, Mr. Leyshon Rowlands, Mr. Meirion Shankland, Mr. Thomas Walters, Mr. D. M. James, and Mr. Gomer Evans. Votes of thanks were moved by Mr. D. M. James, seconded by Mr. Emrys Lewis, and carried with acclamation. The singing of "Hen Wlad fy Nhadau," Mr. Griffith Morris leading with the solo, brought a memorable evening to a close.
